Please note that there will not be a traditional Parade and Festival on Main Street this year, 2021 and instead there will be safe-distance and virtual events held across the city throughout the day.

What is the Spirit of Beacon Day?
The Spirit of Beacon Day is a Community Celebration held on the last Sunday of September. It has been running since 1977 and the mission of its original founders was “A day to bring the City together, especially the children and youth....the community should get to know one another better, learn to know what each other likes in conversation, feelings, entertainment, education and food.”

How will health and safety be a priority this year, in the light of the Covid 19 Pandemic?
Everyone’s health and safety is utmost priority. All events will either be virtual or with safe-distance.

When is Spirit of Beacon Day this year, 2020?
Sunday, September 27th, 2020.

Who organizes and runs the Spirit of Beacon Day?
The event is organized and run entirely by a volunteer committee, and funded by donations from local citizens and businesses. It is not run by the City of Beacon, however the City provides the support of the police, fire and highway department on the day of the parade.

What is the history / origin of the Spirit of Beacon Day?
The event started in 1977 when local citizens decided to organize a parade and festival that would “bring the city together”. Read the full story here

I heard there is a new committee for the Spirit of Beacon, who is the new committee?
The new committee started in 2018 and are local volunteers from across the community. They have worked closely with the previous committee (who stepped down in 2017 ) to learn how the parade was run in the past, with the goal to make the transition smooth and carry the torch forward.
